A Dual Static and Dynamic Calibration is a single ADAS calibration that the OEM requires in two coordinated phases on the same vehicle.
The first phase is a static target calibration. The vehicle sits in a controlled bay environment. Targets, mats, mirrors, and reference frames are positioned to the OEM’s exact distance, height, and angle specifications. The forward-facing camera, radar, lidar, or surround-view sensor learns its primary reference points against those targets while the vehicle is stationary.
The second phase is a dynamic calibration. The vehicle is driven under conditions specified by the OEM position statement (set speeds, lane markings, road type, lighting, and minimum drive distance) so the same sensor can confirm and refine its reference against the real driving environment.
Neither phase is optional when the OEM requires both. The static phase establishes the reference; the dynamic phase confirms the reference holds at speed in real-world conditions. The calibration is not complete, and the vehicle is not safe to release, until both phases are verified to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved.
