AirPro's industry-leading Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration
Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration is one of the most frequently triggered rear-corner ADAS procedures in collision and refinish work. AirPro Diagnostics delivers it remotely, with a US-based Brand Specialist on every assist, brand-authenticated tooling, and documentation aligned to the OEM position statement.
What Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration is
AirPro is a remote diagnostic services provider. The vehicle stays in your bay. The diagnostic depth and the documentation come from AirPro. The physical work stays with your technician.
AirPro services cover 98% of all vehicles on the road. Response in under 10 minutes, most assists in under 90 seconds. Full insurance documentation aligned to OEM position statements and DRP audit requirements.
Blind Spot Assist (also called Blind Spot Monitor or Blind Spot Detection across OEM brands) uses two radar sensors mounted in the rear corners of the vehicle (typically behind the rear bumper cover, near the wheel wells) to detect vehicles in the driver’s blind spots on either side. The system warns the driver through indicator lamps in the side mirrors, audible alerts, haptic feedback in the steering wheel, and on many platforms by initiating active steering or braking input to keep the driver from changing lanes into another vehicle. On most platforms, the same rear-corner radar pair also drives Rear Cross-Traffic Alert when the vehicle is in reverse.
Static Blind Spot Assist calibration is performed in the bay with the vehicle stationary, squared, and level. Precision targets, reflectors, fixtures, and reference frames are positioned to the rear and to the rear corners of the vehicle at the OEM’s exact distance, height, and angle specifications relative to the vehicle’s centerline and thrust line. Most of the time with the bumper off the vehicle if it has a body-mounted blindspot radar, so you can check it alignment, prior to assembly. Each rear-corner radar sensor learns its primary reference points against those targets, the system verifies that both sensors are calibrated symmetrically, and the calibration is verified to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved.
When Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration is required
- Replacement of either rear-corner radar sensor (left or right)
- Rear bumper, quarter panel, or fascia replacement (whenever a sensor mounting plane is disturbed)
- Rear-end or rear-corner collision repair affecting frame, subframe, quarter panel, or sensor mounting points
- Suspension or ride-height changes that alter the vehicle’s reference geometry
- Wheel alignment that changes the steering or thrust-line reference
- Any active or stored DTC pointing to the blind spot module, either rear-corner radar sensor, the rear cross-traffic module, or the active steering or braking systems that depend on the blind spot input
- After bumper or quarter panel paint or refinish work that requires removing and remounting the rear-corner sensors
- Customer complaints of false blind spot alerts, missed alerts, or asymmetric behavior between left and right sides after collision or refinish work
If the vehicle is in for rear-end or rear-corner collision repair, refinish, or any work that touches the rear bumper or quarter panels, the Brand Specialist on the assist confirms the exact requirement against the OEM position statement for that VIN before releasing the vehicle.
A US-based Brand Specialist is one click away.
US-based Brand Specialists are available. This is the difference between the AirPro device and a generic scan tool. A generic tool reads codes and leaves the technician to interpret them on their own. The AirPro device remotely connects a US-based Brand Specialist with the on-site technician, who is on the line from error code to repair plan confirmation and documentation. No script. No call tree. No transfer to a supervisor. AirPro commits to responding within 10 minutes of every assist request, with the majority attended to within 90 seconds.
How AirPro delivers
Every Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration through AirPro Assist is led by a US-based Brand Specialist on the call. Our Brand Specialists have worked the brands they specialize in and have worked in a repair shop themselves. They speak the language of the bay because they have worked the bay.
The AirPro device connects to the vehicle in your bay. AirPro’s operating system connects the device to the Brand Specialist on the call. The Brand Specialist confirms the OEM position statement, verifies the bay setup (vehicle squared, level, weight as specified, fuel and tire pressure where the OEM calls it out), walks the rear and rear-corner target placement with your technician (distance, height, lateral offset, angle for each sensor), runs the calibration for each rear-corner radar in sequence, verifies that both sensors are calibrated symmetrically, and verifies the result to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved. Documentation generates automatically against the OEM position statement.
No script. No call-tree. No transfer to a supervisor. The Brand Specialist on the line is the one with in-depth experience on the brand. From error code to confirmed repair plan, the assist is one continuous call.
OEM-licensed software is available on request. For late-model Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other vehicles that require it, the Brand Specialist runs the calibration with security gateway authentication in place.
Coverage spans internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric platforms, including the proprietary blind spot implementations EV-native OEMs build their vehicles around.
Key points
- US-based Brand Specialist on every assist. Every Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration is led by one of our US-based Brand Specialists with in-depth experience on the vehicle brand. AirPro commits to responding within 10 minutes of every assist request, and a majority of requests are attended to within 90 seconds.
- Two sensors, one symmetric result. The Brand Specialist runs the calibration for each rear-corner radar in sequence and verifies that both sensors are calibrated symmetrically. Asymmetric calibration produces blind spots that detect on one side and miss on the other; the Brand Specialist verifies symmetry to OEM operating spec before the assist closes.
- OEM position statement governs the bay setup and the targets. Vehicle squaring, ride height, weight, fuel and tire pressure where called out, target distance, target height, lateral offset, and angle for each sensor. The Brand Specialist confirms the requirement against the OEM position statement for that VIN before the calibration begins. Calibration is verified to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved.
- Rear cross-traffic and active intervention systems verified. On most platforms, the same rear-corner radar pair drives Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and feeds active steering or braking intervention. The Brand Specialist verifies that those connected systems clear with all active fault codes resolved as part of the calibration close.
- Brand-authenticated tooling, security gateway included. Our US-based Brand Specialists run diagnostics with brand-authenticated tooling, including security gateway authentication for late-model Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other vehicles that require it.
- 98% vehicle coverage across every powertrain. AirPro services cover 98% of all vehicles on the road, including internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric, including the proprietary blind spot implementations EV-native OEMs build their vehicles around.
- Full insurance documentation, audit-ready. Documentation generates automatically against the OEM position statement and reflects the verified calibration with all active fault codes resolved. Files are aligned to DRP audit requirements for State Farm, Allstate, GEICO, Progressive, USAA, and other major DRP programs.
- Trusted partner for every shop tier. Whether you are a single-shop independent running low monthly volume, a high-volume single-shop operator, a small MSO running two to three locations, or a large MSO running dozens to hundreds of locations, you get the same Brand Specialist coverage and the same documentation depth on every Static Blind Spot Assist System calibration. Higher-volume single-shop operators and MSOs additionally receive DRP audit alignment built into the documentation flow.
