AirPro's industry-leading Rear View Warning Calibration
Rear View Warning calibration is one of the highest-stakes rear-facing ADAS procedures, with the radar reference governing how the vehicle interprets approaching traffic and pre-collision response. AirPro Diagnostics delivers it remotely, with a US-based Brand Specialist on every assist, brand-authenticated tooling, and documentation aligned to the OEM position statement.
What Rear View Warning calibration is
AirPro is a remote diagnostic services provider. The vehicle stays in your bay. The diagnostic depth and the documentation come from AirPro. The physical work stays with your technician.
AirPro services cover 98% of all vehicles on the road. Response in under 10 minutes, most assists in under 90 seconds. Full insurance documentation aligned to OEM position statements and DRP audit requirements.
Rear View Warning uses a rear-facing radar (and on some platforms, a rear-facing camera input) to detect vehicles approaching the rear of the vehicle and to warn the driver of imminent rear-end impact. On many platforms, the system also triggers pre-collision protective responses (seatbelt pre-tensioning, headrest position adjustment, hazard light activation to warn the approaching vehicle). The rear radar is typically mounted behind the rear bumper cover or behind the tailgate trim, and on some platforms it shares hardware with rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.
Rear View Warning calibration is performed in the bay with the vehicle stationary, squared, and level. Precision targets, reflectors, fixtures, and reference frames are positioned behind the vehicle to the OEM’s exact distance, height, and angle specifications relative to the vehicle’s centerline and thrust line. The rear radar learns its primary reference points against those targets while the vehicle is set up to OEM specification.
The calibration is verified to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved before the assist closes.
When Rear View Warning calibration is required
- Rear radar sensor replacement
- Rear bumper, fascia, or tailgate replacement (whenever the radar mounting plane is disturbed)
- Rear-end collision repair affecting frame, subframe, rear panel, or radar mounting points
- Suspension or ride-height changes that alter the vehicle’s reference geometry
- Wheel alignment that changes the steering or thrust-line reference
- Any active or stored DTC pointing to the rear collision warning module, the rear radar sensor, or the pre-collision response systems that depend on it
- After bumper paint or refinish work that requires removing and remounting the rear radar
- Customer complaints of false rear collision warnings, missed warnings, or system unavailable indicators after collision or refinish work
If the vehicle is in for rear-end collision repair, refinish, or any work that touches the rear bumper or tailgate, the Brand Specialist on the assist confirms the exact requirement against the OEM position statement for that VIN before releasing the vehicle.
A US-based Brand Specialist is one click away.
US-based Brand Specialists are available. This is the difference between the AirPro device and a generic scan tool. A generic tool reads codes and leaves the technician to interpret them on their own. The AirPro device remotely connects a US-based Brand Specialist with the on-site technician, who is on the line from error code to repair plan confirmation and documentation. No script. No call tree. No transfer to a supervisor. AirPro commits to responding within 10 minutes of every assist request, with the majority attended to within 90 seconds.

How AirPro delivers it
Every Rear View Warning calibration through AirPro Assist is led by a US-based Brand Specialist on the call. Our Brand Specialists have worked the brands they specialize in and have worked in a repair shop themselves. They speak the language of the bay because they have worked the bay.
The AirPro device connects to the vehicle in your bay. AirPro’s operating system connects the device to the Brand Specialist on the call. The Brand Specialist confirms the OEM position statement, verifies the bay setup (vehicle squared, level, weight as specified, fuel and tire pressure where the OEM calls it out), walks the rear target placement with your technician (distance behind the vehicle, height, lateral offset, angle), runs the calibration, and verifies the result to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved. Documentation is generated automatically against the OEM position statement.
No script. No call tree. No transfer to a supervisor. The Brand Specialist on the line is the one with in-depth experience on the brand. From error code to confirmed repair plan, the assist is one continuous call.
OEM-licensed software is available on request. For late-model Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other vehicles that require it, the Brand Specialist runs the calibration with security gateway authentication in place.
Coverage spans internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric platforms, including the proprietary rear collision warning implementations EV-native OEMs build their vehicles around.

AirPro commits to responding within 10 minutes of every assist request, and a majority of requests are attended to within 90 seconds.
- OEM position statement governs the bay setup and the targets. Vehicle squaring, ride height, weight, fuel and tire pressure where called out, target distance behind the vehicle, target height, lateral offset, angle. The Brand Specialist confirms the requirement against the OEM position statement for that VIN before the calibration begins. Calibration is verified to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved.
- Pre-collision response systems verified. On platforms where Rear View Warning triggers seatbelt pre-tensioning, headrest position adjustment, or hazard light activation, the Brand Specialist verifies that those response systems clear with all active fault codes resolved as part of the calibration close.
- Brand-authenticated tooling, security gateway included. Our US-based Brand Specialists run diagnostics with brand-authenticated tooling, including security gateway authentication for late-model Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other vehicles that require it.
