AirPro’s industry-leading Steering Angle Sensor calibration

Steering Angle Sensor calibration is a precision service. AirPro Diagnostics delivers it remotely, with a US-based Brand Specialist on every assist, brand-authenticated tooling, and documentation aligned to the OEM position statement.

What Steering Angle Sensor calibration is

AirPro is a remote diagnostic services provider. The vehicle stays in your bay. The diagnostic depth and the documentation come from AirPro. The physical repair stays with your technician.

The Steering Angle Sensor reports steering wheel position and rate of turn to the vehicle network. It is the reference input that Electronic Stability Control, ABS, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, and parking assist systems rely on to know which way the wheels are pointed. When the sensor is uncalibrated or out of spec, those systems do not see the road the driver sees. False activations, soft steering corrections, fault codes across the ADAS network, and unsafe ADAS behavior follow.

The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) provides the ECU with the true steering wheel position and rate of turn. Correct calibration is critical for vehicle safety, drivability, and ADAS functions.

When Steering Angle Sensor calibration is required

A calibration is typically required after any of the following:
  • Four-wheel alignment
  • Steering or suspension component replacement (tie rods, rack and pinion, control arms, struts, ball joints)
  • Steering Angle Sensor replacement
  • Clock spring replacement
  • Airbag deployment involving steering column work
  • Battery disconnect on vehicles that lose the SAS reference on power loss
  • Collision repair involving frame, subframe, or suspension geometry
  • Any active or stored DTC pointing to the SAS or to ADAS modules that reference it
  • As a prerequisite step before camera, radar, or lidar calibration on vehicles where the ADAS calibration sequence requires a known-good steering reference

If the vehicle is in for ADAS calibration and the alignment has just been completed, the Steering Angle Sensor calibration is almost always part of the sequence.

A US-based Brand Specialist is one click away.

US-based Brand Specialists are available. This is the difference between the AirPro device and a generic scan tool. A generic tool reads codes and leaves the technician to interpret them on their own. The AirPro device remotely connects a US-based Brand Specialist with the on-site technician, who is on the line from error code to repair plan confirmation and documentation. No script. No call tree. No transfer to a supervisor. AirPro commits to responding within 10 minutes of every assist request, with the majority attended to within 90 seconds.

How AirPro delivers

Every Steering Angle Sensor calibration through AirPro Assist is led by a US-based Brand Specialist on the call. Our Brand Specialists have worked the brands they specialize in and have worked in a repair shop themselves. They speak the language of the bay because they have worked the bay.

The AirPro device connects to the vehicle in your bay. AirPro’s operating system connects the device to the Brand Specialist on the call. The Brand Specialist walks the OEM procedure with your technician, runs the calibration against the OEM position statement, and verifies the calibration to OEM operating spec with all active fault codes resolved. Documentation generates automatically as the work is performed.

OEM-licensed software is available on request. For late-model Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other vehicles that require it, the Brand Specialist runs the calibration with security gateway authentication in place.

Coverage spans internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric platforms, including the proprietary ADAS implementations EV-native OEMs build their vehicles around. AirPro services cover 98% of all vehicles on the road.
